OM: “First registered convict to start serving sentence”

Court houseWILLEMSTAD - The Public Prosecution (OM) in Curaçao has commenced the execution of sentences of those that were convicted some time ago but that did not go to prison yet. The man A.P.P. (Dominican Republic, 1975) volunteered on February 15 and will serve his prison sentence of 10 months for an opium conviction.

He was sentenced on February 14, 2014.

The Public Prosecution has meanwhile contacted the police regarding the people who also received a letter, but did not respond to this. They will soon be tracked down to still serve the sentence. The convicts who have since moved, the punishment is transferred to that country where they live. They will spend time in prison in their country of residence.

The OM Curaçao intends to register a number of new convicts in a short period of time, to also voluntarily report to prison to serve their sentence.
