Tighter rules for fireworks

fireworksWILLEMSTAD – There are new rules for the lighting of fireworks. This was announced by the Minister of Justice, Nelson Navarro this week.

It is not allowed to light fireworks in a radius of 250 meters of institutes where sick people are treated or where religious services are held. Also, nothing may be lighted in a radius of 500 meters from the powder magazine in Klein Kwartier and within a radius of 250 meters from the stations of the Isla Refinery. There are also some risky firework products banned.

As of December 27 fireworks can be purchased at major retailers again. Only 12 years and older can buy fireworks.

The fireworks may lighted from 27 December to 1 January, to start the New Year.
