Unions resort to court because of retirement insurance

Court houseWILLEMSTAD – Unions representing civil servants, ABVO, NAPB, STrAF, Sitek and STSK, have resorted to the court. The will decide today whether they will file a lawsuit or begin a substantive legal proceeding. The Unions disagree with the new general old age insurance law (AOV), which takes effect on March 1, 2013.

The Unions consider that the civil servants should be exempt from this new law until July 31, 2015. In the Social Statute which is still valid, it states that civil servants cannot go backwards in their income. The Unions also complained that they were not involved in the process of the new retirement insurance law.
