AAV drags Isla to court

oil refineryWILLEMSTAD – The Antillean Contractors Association (AAV) will file a case against the PDVSA (Curacao Refinery Isla) in court. The process for this court case was put in motion yesterday, as confirmed by director of AAV, Mike William.

In July or August 2012, the AAV was suppose to pay its employees a bonus. By the collective agreement between the AAV and Isla, was this bonus of 1,600 guilders per employee for the turnaround catcracker funded by Isla. The refinery has never paid the money to the AAV and the workers are still waiting for their bonus. Also, the parties agreed in the collective agreement, a wage increase of five percent for each employee. The AAV has funded this increase itself. Several attempts to recall the refinery to the arrangements through a lawyer were unsuccessful.
