CAP called back by the court of justice

AirportWILLEMSTAD – The Curacao Airport Partners (CAP) cannot refuse individual car rental companies to come to the airport to pick up or drop off costumers. This was the court’s decision yesterday in a lawsuit filed by the car rentals in Curacao.

CAP warned the car rentals in writing that they would have to pay 100 guilders (57 dollars) in fine each time they come to the airport to pick up or drop off their customers. Only big companies like Avis and Hertz have received concessions from CAP to operate at the airport. The judge ruled that the measure is an absolute abuse of power by the airport operators and is an unacceptable restriction of competition. CAP is forbidden to impose fines and must bear the costs of the legal process.
