corps-consulaire-curacao-70-416x313WILLEMSTAD - Guests and members of the Consular Corps in Curacao have celebrated the 70th anniversary of the organization. This event took place at the Santa Barbara Resort. The evening began with a speech by Kathryn Pruneti, secretary of the Consular Corps Curaçao, who replaced the absent Chairwoman of the organization, Helga Mensing.

Consular Corps Curaçao was originally established at the request of the then Governor of Curaçao Piet Kasteel. The aim was to simplify the cooperation between the Government of Curacao and recognized community of consuls and consuls between themselves.

Pruneti said that she was proud that the consular corps, in spite of all political, economic and social changes and challenges, was able to fulfill its purpose and positively contribute to Curaçao, the people and the countries it represented. A special thanks was given to Paul Ackerman, Honorary Consul of Israel and Anthony Owers, former Honorary Consul of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, for their contribution to the consular corps Curacao.
