Coast Guard: ‘People smuggling and drug transport’
WILLEMSTAD - Recently the Coast Guard of the Dutch Caribbean held two vessels off the coast of Curaçao. This was done during patrols at sea, commissioned by the Underground Action Center Curaçao.
One boat was intercepted at Klein Curaçao. The three passengers were found to have a total of 8i kilos and 775 grams kilos of cocaine and 2 kilos and 140 grams of marijuana on board. The officers arrested three men with the Venezuelan nationality and they were taken to Coast Guard station in Parera. From there they were transferred to the narcotics unit of the Police for further investigation.
On the other boat, which was signaled at Bullenbaai, a human smuggler tried to bring 41 Venezuelans close to the coast, 35 men and 6 women. After they were searched, the Coast Guard transferred them to the police.
That same day the police investigated both cases which lead them to the Seru Machu area where they stopped two vehicles and arrested 6 suspects. All of them born in Curaçao. Police officers confiscated two rifles and both vehicles.
