Curaçao leads the Dutch delegation in the 47th General Assembly of the OAS

WILLEMSTAD - At the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom Mr. Bert Koenders, Prime-Minister Mr. Eugene Rhuggenaath leads the delegation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the 47th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The OAS is one of the oldest regional cooperation relations in the world of which all 35 independent countries in the American continent are members. The Kingdom of the Netherlands is an associate member of the OAS. During the General Assembly important regional developments and mutual cooperation will be discussed.

Prime-minister Mr. Rhuggenaath addresses the plenary session and participate in panel discussions about integral development and wealth, the democratic constitutional state, human rights and multidimensional safety. In the margin of the meetings and sessions meetings with high representatives of other countries are planned in order to discuss subjects important to the Kingdom and Curaçao. During his trip the prime-minister is supported by the Minister Plenipotentiary of Curaçao in Washington, where the OAS headquarters is situated, and employees of the Kingdom embassies in Washington and Mexico City.

The trip contributes to the profiling of Curaçao in the region and the diversity of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is emphasized. In the Kingdom a helping hand is thus extended in the maintenance of important international relations; the trip demonstrates the confidence one has in the ministers, dignitaries and top officials in Curaçao.
