Donation of beautiful LET (Lionfish Elimination Team) Lionfish necklace pendant to Ride for the Roses

Lionfish necklaceWILLEMSTAD - This week on April 20, it is the time for the traditional Auction Dinner of the Ride for the Roses Foundation. On this beautiful evening filled with fun and entertainment there will be many wonderful items auctioned all with the goal of raising money to aid in the fight against cancer.

The dinner auction is the last in the series of Ride for the Roses events which included Ride, Swim, Walk, Uphill Challenge and Spinning. This auction dinner will end the ninth edition. Funds that are collected will eventually end up at the Princess Wilhelmina Fund, the foundation which officially has been committed to the volunteers in our society in 'The fight against Cancer’.

Another group of volunteers in our society, who are doing their best to help in an entirely different battle, is the Lionfish Elimination Team 'LET'. They have geared up to help in the fight against the lionfish, an invasion of unprecedented scale, which is a serious threat to our waters in general and our reefs in particular. Thus also for the ecological balance and our tourism.

Now the Auction Dinner of the Ride for the Roses is approaching, LET decided to do a nice gesture: a donation of a beautiful item to be offered for auction. This combined with a bit of awareness regarding the Lionfish problem resulted in the purchase and immediate donation of the item to the Curacao Ride for the Roses Foundation. The item to be auctioned is a beautiful necklace with pendant made entirely of real Lionfish material, made by the artist Maria Hickerson of Team Frapper in the United States. Something you cannot just find anywhere. Tickets to the Auction Dinner can be purchased for two hundred and fifty guilders per person, phone 512.7903. Through Mrs. Hartsuijker

LET hopes that people will high bids, so an equally large sum through can be collected through this beautiful item to help in the fight against cancer. ".. In this way we make a contribution with our activities to the uphill battle against cancer and we draw attention to the fight against lionfish. If we combine the efforts and join hands then we can collectively achieve more!
