Drivers ABC: medium-sized buses bad for health

BusesWILLEMSTAD – Drivers employed at the public transportation company ABC, wants the company to get rid of the medium sized Volvo buses. Despite the fact that these buses with the brand name Marco Polo were acquired only four years ago, the drivers don’t want them anymore.

They indicate that the engine of the bus is in the front, which forms a danger for them. “The engine creates heat and this radiates to our legs,” one of the drivers pointed out.

Attempts to isolate the hood did not give any results. This is according to Wendell Meulen, president of the union representing these employees, the UGTK/Cadmu.

“We will have to do something about this and we will discuss this issue with the management of the company. We cannot put the health of these drives in jeopardy,” the union leader said.

The union also believes that the ABC bus company is making a good choice for free internet in the buses. This is in cooperation with the Bureau of Telecommunications. It was an initiative of Minister Earl Balborda of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning.
