Experts predict quiet hurricane period for this year

hurricane-1WILLEMSTAD - Experts predict a quiet hurricane season for the year 2014. Fewer hurricanes will reach the mainland than before.

The experts have predicted a very active hurricane season for 2013 but it was not that active after all. Twelve tropical storms and five hurricanes, two major ones, are predicted for the Atlantic side this year.

Precisely because the predictions for 2013 were way off, the Caribbean will hold in mind that 2014 is going to bring more activity compared to the previous year. Officials have already started their preparations in St. Maarten, while Curacao has not done anything yet.
