Fishermen criticize fishing buoys

West PointWILLEMSTAD - The fishermen have criticized the so-called fishing buoys. Yesterday 20 buoys were shipped to Banda Abou (South western side of the island). These buoys should attract more fish, but according to the fishermen, there are other issues that deserve more attention. One of these issues is the common refrigeration facilities at the pier.

Also, there are fishermen who no longer fish because of the high cost of fuel, for example. According to the fishermen, especially tourists will benefit from the buoys. Curacao has about 50 professional fishermen. Most of them live on the western side of the island.
