For the first time livestream during gastrointestinal surgery

SEHOSWILLEMSTAD - There was recently an international event held in the context of obesity in the auditorium of the General Hospital SEHOS. During the Joint Meeting of the Caribbean Obesity Forum and the Caribbean Society for Endoscopic Surgeons two endoscopic gastrointestinal surgeries were also performed.

Several experts and the public were able to follow the surgeries from the auditorium with a livestream. The surgeries were performed by surgeon Patrick Fa Si Oen and his assistant Dr. David Nellesteijn. It is the first time that the use of livestream is done during operations on the island. Attention was also devoted to specific regional solutions for obesity and collaborations for the benefit of the local health care.

The event ended with a gala at a Renaissance Hotel where former gynecologists Dr. Sergio Leon and Dr. Jacques Capello were honored. Both doctors received recognition for their role as local founders of endoscopic surgery in Curacao.
