Free zone in a difficult situation

FreezoneWILLEMSTAD – The president of the Fresacur (Free zone Curacao), Mr. Nepomuceno declared that the Free zone of Curacao is in a very difficult situation and “it is almost dead”. “There is no light at the end of the tunnel and we will have to continue firing people,” Nepomuceno declared.

According to the president, the reason for the current circumstances is the terrible economic situation of the island. Another reason is the Venezuelan currency issue. Venezuelan customers pay in Venezuelan currency (Bolivar) and store owners usually have to wait for months to get their money from the currency agency in Venezuela.
