Hospital is making progress

HospitalWILLEMSTAD - The Board of Directors of the Saint Elizabeth Hospital (SEHOS) has recently received the trend report ‘Caribbean 2013, to monitor the developments in care’. The report provides an overview of the overall developments in the health care in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Curaçao, Aruba and St. Maarten.

The report was published by FWG, a foundation dedicated to the job evaluation system for health care in the Netherlands, at the request of the health care officials of the Caribbean Netherlands.


“The unique thing about the report is that the developments and their implications for the individual islands in connection with each other are described. It is also possible for the health care sector in Curacao to use this report to do for their researches, according to FWG.

Developments SEHOS

During the presentation the recent developments and initiatives taken to improve the quality of care within the SEHOS were discussed. The various professional groups receive regular visits from foreign colleagues and there is also a partnership with the UMC Groningen which involves staff training.

Also, the clinic was expanded and their radiology department was digitized. In addition, the surgery room was renewed and the SEHOS is working with the newly created cath lab, which performs cardiac catheterization and angioplasties. FWG Chairman Jan Helmond is very enthusiastic about these initiatives.
