Major police inspection at airport mainly leads to empty airline seats
WILLEMSTAD - The extensive police inspections at the Hato airport has mainly led to a large number of empty airline seats. This can be gathered from interviews with the local police.
Along with the Volunteers Corps (VKC) and Customs, the Police checked, passengers, drivers who dropped or picked off passengers. This is all part of the police action dubbed ‘Ta Basta Awor’ (it’s enough).
There was no sign of an immediate threat at the airport.
Taxi drivers were happy with the inspections, their business went, according to their own words, because illegal taxis avoided the airport yesterday during the inspections.
Around 8 pm, the police had searched 92 cars and checked 220 people.
