Mediator signs agreement to end conflict Aqualectra and unions

AqualectraWILLEMSTAD – The process of mediation between the management of the utility company, Aqualectra and the union representing the employees has been continued this morning. It’s the mediator’s intention to sign an agreement between both parties to put an end to the conflict. The mediator, Randolph Gijsbertha talks about an agreement, which guarantees continuity of the effects of the expired collective agreement.  This agreement was canceled by the management of the utility company, which caused uproar among the employees.

Gijsbertha looks back on a very successful week in which he was able to mediate in the conflict between the management of the company and the unions. “We have found some common grounds, which is positive. There were also moments when the union leaders walked out on us to consult with their members. But the atmosphere during the negotiations was essential for the parties to find each other on common grounds,” Gijsbertha said.

“We can consider this agreement, which we are about to sign, a preamble to the collective employment agreement, which will have to be negotiated between all those involved.”
