oil spill2WILLEMSTAD – The Minister of Public Health, Environment and Nature Suzanne Camelia-Römer has called on the population not to start cleaning the polluted areas themselves. These areas have been smeared by the oil residues found on the ABC islands in recent days.

The residues may contain poisonous substances that are harmful to health. Harbor Master Marlon Laroche has been appointed as the coordinator of a team that will come up with an action plan and ensures that the oil is cleared up in a responsible manner.

Today, the Sea Turtle Conservation Curaςao (STTC) commences with the coordination of the cleaning of the beaches at Bandabou and Klein Curaςao. The organization is especially worried about the turtles that are laying their eggs in this area during this time.
