More people voted in the morning compared with last election

WILLEMSTAD - The polling stations opened their doors this morning at 08.00. At 12.00 this afternoon 23 percent of the population voted in one of these polling stations. This is 3 percent more than two years ago at the same time.

The election is far more quiet. The police had to turn out twice: once to assist a lady who had slipped, but was able to go to the doctor on her own. The second time it was a candidate who had blocked the road at the polling station Montaña Rey. When police arrived on the spot, the politician was already gone.

So far everything is going smooth with just a few minor details here and there. According to reports about 728 voters went to the Registrar’s Office to pick up their ballot since it wasn’t delivered to their houses. In total 3506 picked up their ballot during these last days so they too can participate in the election.
