New hospital not stopped by Kingdom instructions

New HospitalWILLEMSTAD – Despite the instructions given by the Kingdom Council of Ministers, the construction of the new hospital will continue. This is according to Theo Janssen and Peter Bosman of the Dutch Financing Institution USONA yesterday during a Central Committee Meeting of Parliament.

A bond was not an option for financing because of the Kingdom instructions to the Curacao Government. USONA had to explore for other possibilities. Financial and pension institutions were interested according to USONA.

The initial intent declaration was already signed according to the organization. USONA did not violate the instructions by attracting money lenders. The developers of the new hospital assumed that the financial instructions would be temporary and this is why they sought a bridging loan with the Amstel property as collateral. Meanwhile, the Government’s long-term budget is approved and the main condition is met for the lifting of the financial instructions. A bond would be therefore not excluded.
