No ‘selfies’ behind voting booth

ElectionsWILLEMSTAD – Voters are not allowed to take ‘selfies’ while they are behind the voting booth. This is according to a decision made by the Supreme Electoral Council (SEC).

The Public Prosecutor also warned to be extra alert in connection with Friday’s elections. In case there are signs of buying or selling votes, they will act. The maximum penalty for this is two years in prison. The reasoning used by the Public Prosecution is that with a selfie you can prove who you voted for and that is also punishable.

The Prosecution says that they will investigate all signs of intimidation, threat and disorder before, during and after the elections.
