Pinnacle Sports becomes 1st major bookmaker to sponsor an esports tournament

Pinnacle SportsWILLEMSTAD /CNW/ - The Pinnacle Sports DotA 2 Pro-Am marks a significant moment in esports - the first sponsorship of an esports tournament by a major bookmaker.

Pinnacle Sports has become the first major bookmaker to sponsor a DotA 2 tournament, marking a significant moment in the evolution of esports.

The Pinnacle Sports DotA 2 Pro-Am runs from January 4-12th, 2014 with 16 invited competitors - including established names like Speed Gaming,, Fnatic, Empire and Team Liquid - all competing for a €10,000 prize pool.

Sponsorship of the competition is a natural progression for Pinnacle Sports, who has been offering odds for esports events since early 2011, recognizing the credibility of StarCraft, DotA and LoL alongside their more familiar sports markets.

"While other bookmakers are content to endorse mainstream sports, we feel equally passionate about the emergence of esports and, through our sponsorship of the Pinnacle Sports DotA 2 Pro-Am, aim to give it the recognition we feel it deserves", commented Aly Lalani, Pinnacle Sports' Marketing Director.

In addition to the main Pro-Am competition, Pinnacle Sports is also running a ground-breaking competition giving entrants the chance to play against an All-Star team formed of DotA 2 professionals.

"The Invitational element offers something special for DotA 2 fans, giving them the chance to pitch their skills against the best, and see just how good their favourite professionals really are."

Five lucky entrants will be selected to face a team consisting of:

• N0tail (Fnatic)

• Singsing (Speed)

• BuLba (Team Liquid)

• 7ckingMad (Sigma)

• Goblak (Rox.kis)

The Pinnacle Sports DotA 2 Pro-Am runs from January 4-12th. Full information about the tournament & the Invitational competition can be found here:
