Plasterk will not reclaim grant given to Jellinek Retreat

Ronald PlasterkTHE HAGUE,WILLEMSTAD –  The Dutch Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk, will not reclaim the grant given to the Jellinek Retreat at West Point. This is what Plasterk said in a response to parliamentary questions in the Dutch Parliament.

When the addiction center opened its doors in 2009, it was opened partly thanks to a grant of 600.000 euro. Earlier this the retreat had to close its doors because the Dutch insurance companies did not want to pay. Inspector Jan Huurman said that the addiction center was not completely in order.

Despite an earlier response, in which Plasterk said to have had his doubts about giving the grant to the organization, he will not reclaim it, also because the control of these matters is subject to the local laws and regulations. He also says that he did not have enough evidence to prove that the clinic was lacking quality.
