Prime Minister Betrian welcomes International Election Observers

WILLEMSTAD - On Thursday, October 18, 2012, the group of international election observers paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Stanley Betrian. Observers were invited by the Supreme Electoral Council at the request of the Government of Curacao.

The group consists of people from Aruba, St. Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago and the Dominican Republic. The government also invited all present consuls in Curaçao to be observers. Despite the very short time in which the request was sent to the consulates, two of them were able to sent some of their staff to act as observers. These are representatives of the United States of America and Haiti.

On Friday, October 19th, these observers will watch the election process and report their findings to the Supreme Electoral Council.
