SITCOM’s chairman Emilio Brunken resigns

Emilio BrunkenWILLEMSTAD - The president of the union Sitcom, Emilio Brunken resigns from his position after 24 years. The current situation in the telecommunication company, United Telecommunication Services (UTS) has become too much for him. “It was a difficult decision, I have done my best and I believe that it is now time to step down,” Brunken said.

According to the chairman, it is time for someone else to take over the leadership of the union. Sitcom and its members have not yet been officially informed by Brunken. "The union meets every Wednesday. I will announce my resignation during our meeting.  I will also send a letter to the members about my decision.”

Brunken was recently threatened at his house. The President has denounced the threat at UTS, but, according to the Chairman, he was silenced. Whether this has played a part in his decision Brunken would not say. “What happened in my home and at meetings I want to leave behind me.”

UTS announced earlier to lay off 200 people to keep the company competitive. The union did not agree with this decision.
