Sitek only wants actions at Feffik next year

Darius PlantijnWILLEMSTAD - Education union Sitek wants to meet with the government, the business community and employees of Feffik to come to a solution in the new school year.

That is what the trade union chairman Darius Lio Plantijn indicated in a recent interview. According to Plantijn, this position was made clear to the government yesterday, but they did not agree to it. Plantijn thinks that a decision was made too quickly to close the vocational school and this has caused great unrest among students and employees.

The Minister of Education Marilyn Alcala-Walle wants to close the training institute in the way it now functions: a reorganization has to take place. According to Alcala-Walle, a lot of government money has been invested in Feffik, while the education offered does not meet the requirements. Plantijn says he believes that the government has made agreements with other training companies and the decision must therefore necessarily be made now.
