SMOC responds to legal complaint request Thode MP

SMOC-islaWILLEMSTAD – Member of Parliament, Amerigo Thode wants a complaint to be filed at the Court of Justice against the Clean Environment Foundation Curaçao (SMOC) for confidentiality breach. SMOC has published and distributed the ECORYS report. According to the SMOC this is not illegal, because the report was not leaked, but downloaded from the Internet.

"Thode’s assumption is incorrect," said SMOC-chairman Peter van Leeuwen. "We have circulated the report as we release all relevant documents related to the refinery."

Thode declared earlier that the SMOC did not care for the national interest when they published the report. According to Van Leeuwen this is an inappropriate accusation. "This is inappropriate to say to a foundation which has been fighting for over ten years now for clean air. We therefore share the opinion of PAIS-chairman Alex Rosaria knowledge that everyone should be able to read this report. Now it is possible.”
