Spies: Schotte legally deposed

THE HAGUE - According to NOS News, Spies, Minister of Kingdom Relations, says that the appointment of an interim government in Curacao was according to democratic rules. She points out that the confidence of a majority of the Curaçao parliament in Premier Schotte has terminated.

Yesterday, Acting Governor of Curacao, Adele van der Pluijm-Vrede, swore in an interim government led by interim Prime Minister Stanley Betrian. Demissionary Prime Minister Schotte refuses to leave and is still in the government building.

"In accordance with state law '
Schotte calls the whole situation a coup and said that the Netherlands is behind it. According to him, trust in him was not terminated, because there was no official meeting of the parliament. The president of parliament has canceled all sessions until the elections of October 19.

A majority of the parliament, however, came on September 10 during a self welded meeting and took motions of no confidence against all ministers. According to Spies is done in accordance with the constitutional law of Curaçao.

Spies stressed that Betrian is at the head of an interim government and leads the people of Curaçao. October 19 must indicate how it should then continue.
