UoC wants to increase tuition by 25%

UniversityWILLEMSTAD – The University of Curaçao (UoC) wants to know from the Minister of Education, Irene Dick, what the status is of the increase in tuition fees for the new academic year.

The former University of the Netherlands Antilles (UNA) was strapped for cash and has grown enormously in recent years. More than 2,500 students are enrolled.

The university now wants to force an increase in the tuition fees of 500 to 1,000 guilders through the government. Students currently pay 3,000 guilders (about 1650 dollars) per year. If this fails, then the university will consider implementing a student stop.
