VBC: “Curaçao must exploit economic opportunities better”

WillemstadWILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has to exploit its economic opportunities better. This was suggested by the Curacao Business Association (VBC) during the economic conference that took place recently. In order to achieve this, the investment climate must be improved.

The business community and politicians, including Minister Stanley Palm of Economic Development, were present during the summit.

The VBC advocates for improving the investment climate. There were several issues on the table during the summit, such as youth unemployment, immigration, residence permits and the establishment of a Better Business Bureau. Minister Palm also made a number of concrete projects known in the field of tourism, logistics, green energy and international trade. There are in the field of tourism 42 projects on the agenda, including twelve in the initial phase. Implementing these projects would mean more than 2,700 additional rooms for tourism.

In addition, the Fair Trade Authority Curacao (Ftac), Regulatory Board, Economic Development Board CINEX Curacao and Curacao Development Financial Institute (CDFI) were introduced. These additional bureaucratic organizations would have to contribute to the transparency, expertise and independence within the Curaçao economy.
