InselAir paid – 16 other airlines still waiting on payment agreement with Venezuela

Payments and authorizations made ​​until June 15, 2015, the amount of outstanding debt still reached the sum of 3.4 billion dollars.

InselCARACAS, WILLEMSTAD - From a total of 25 international airlines operating to and from Venezuela, 16 have not yet signed a payment agreement with the government of that South American country, through the aeronautical authorities. This was reported by the Association of Venezuela Airlines (ALAV).

Those companies that are still waiting for an agreement are Air Canada, Air France, Alitalia, American Airlines, Avianca, Caribbean Airlines, Copa Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Federal Express, Iberia, LACSA, LAN Airlines, Lufthansa, TACA, TAP Air Portugal and United Airlines.


CADIVI, the Venezuelan foreign exchange authority, has paid a large part of the outstanding debt of 75 million dollars to the local airline InselAir. This was confirmed by one of the Directors of the airline, Edward Heerenveen. The exact amount is not known, but it is probably about three quarters of the total outstanding debt.

ALAV indicated that the “December 2013 cumulative amount is 3.4 billion, including the months in 2012, which are pending approval from the Venezuelan government.
