Appeal against financial instructions rejected

WILLEMSTAD – The former Government headed by Gerrit Schotte appeal against the financial instructions received by the Dutch Government was completely rejected by the Council of State.

The instruction is adapted to the current financial situation and indicates that the Curacao deficit which in 2010 and 2011 has increased with 55 million guilders must be eliminated within a few years. The Curacao is still banned from borrowing. Minister Plasterk of the Interior and Kingdom Relations stressed on the importance of restoring fiscal balance in Curacao and hopes that the financial instructions given by the former Dutch government can contribute to this.
