Asjes and Plasterk bring consensus state laws into discussion

Asjes and PlasterkWILLEMSTAD – The a Dutch Minister of Kingdom Relations, Ronald Plasterk was present during a press conference of the Council of Minister at Fort Amsterdam on September 30. Minister Plasterk and Prime Minister Asjes indicated that they have discussed the consensus state laws. “We are going to evaluate these laws which were introduced after the new state structure on October 10, 2010. We will adhere to the procedure established in the Kingdom laws,” according to Plasterk.

"We're talking about more about a procedural than substantive evaluation. There is no committee appointed for the evaluation, but that is part of the procedure, "said Plasterk. For the coming year there is a Kingdom Conference scheduled on Aruba in which the Kingdom laws will be discussed. "Since 2011 there were committees appointed to evaluate the consensus laws," Asjes indicated. "From our side, we have indicated that these committees should come together and we have already invited them." The assessment itself will take place in 2015. "But you can already start working towards it," said Asjes.
