Attention to islands at embassies

IpkoWILLEMSTAD - The Dutch delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Kingdom Consultation (Ipko) agreed that they will go to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs advocating that officials who are sent to embassies in the region of Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten will be briefed about the possibilities and opportunities for these countries. This was agreed during the Ipko, which was held on Curaçao last week.

The issue was discussed during the debate on economic opportunities within the Kingdom. In addition, the Dutch delegation will propose to the Ministry to focus more on the economic opportunities for these islands during the training of new diplomats and embassy employees.

They will also look at the options for each island to send one representative to the Ambassador’s Conference on January 16, 2014. During that conference, the delegates will have the opportunity to speak to the respective ambassadors.
