Baudet: Navy ships Caribbean to the Mediterranean Sea

Zr.Ms-Zeeland-vaart-AnnabaaiTHE HAGUE - The Dutch MP Thierry Baudet, who is also a member of the Forum for Democracy, believes that Dutch navy vessels now being sent to the Caribbean should be deployed in the Mediterranean to prevent migrants from crossing from Africa to Europe.

In a letter to the Minister of Defense Hennis-Plasschaert, he proposes the station ship Zr. Ms. Zeeland on the Mediterranean Sea where, according to Baudet, its presence is more needed than in the Caribbean.

The Zeeland is part of the Caribbean Coast Guard, which has the task of intercepting Venezuelans trying to enter illegally to Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire.

The station ship also serves to intercept drug transport at sea. Other factions in the Dutch Parliament than the Forum for Democracy urged the Cabinet to strengthen its commitment to the Caribbean.
