CBP gives no clarification to Wiels on complaint

Marvelyne-Wiels-2014-61THE HAGUE – The Committee for Data Protection (CBP) indicated that they will not address the request of Minister Plenipotentiary Marvelyne Wiels to get information about the complaint filed against her.

The complaint is about the interception of telephone and email traffic and was probably filed by an employee of the Curacao House, which is the representation of the island in the Netherlands.

Wiels asked the Committee for clarification. But the CBP says that it will not answer Wiels’ letter. "The privacy legislation is obviously for us of great importance. We will always protect the identity of a complainant and never just show documents to third parties,” the Committee responded. The case will be handled according to the usual procedure. First, the complaint will be internally weighted, after which it will be decided whether or not to initiate a formal investigation.
