CFT: ‘Statement on financing new hospital in February’

CFT1WILLEMSTAD - The Committee for Financial Supervision (CFT) will give a statement regarding the business case for the new hospital in February. The statement should include a look into the financial situation before a loan is requested for the construction of the hospital.

CFT spent last week visiting Curacao and talked with Governor Lucille George Wout  Premier Ivar Asjes, Finance Minister Jose Jardim and representatives of the USONA (the organization responsible for managing the funds).

Funding Proposal

The expectation is that the government will present a financing proposal in February. “There is more clarity on the contribution which private investors are willing to supply and on how the new hospital will be organized,” the CFT declared.

If it is evident that the financing plan is according to all guidelines, it will give an important signal, according to the CFT-chairman Age Bakker. “We are confident that Curacao will bring the remaining elements of the remediation process to a successful conclusion and will continue sailing a careful course. We will continue to be vigilant of course.”
