Consul of Suriname visits Premier

Consul SurinameWILLEMSTAD – The Consul General of Suriname, Delano Braam, paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister of Curacao, Ivar Asjes. During the Consul’s visit, they spoke about different issues regarding Suriname and Curacao.

Mr. Delano Braam is a former Chief of Police in Suriname.  According to the Suriname media, it was a surprise when Braam’s name appeared on the list of the ambassador’s conference which was held on March 12 of this year.

He was asked by the Department of Foreign Relations to become a diplomat. Braam has agreed and was incorporated into the tricks of the trade. Suriname and Curacao have historical ties, which will be further strengthened.

Braam had to resign in the middle of last year as police chief after persistent criticism was about the safety issue. There was particular criticism of Braam that he did not appear in the foreground and in emergencies he did not communicate with the people of the country.
