Curaçao gets a Public Integrity Bureau
WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao will have its own Public Integrity Bureau in January next year. This was announced by the Minister of Government Services, Planning and Policy, Armin Konket during a recent press conference.
The draft national ordinance will be presented to parliament in October. The agency will play an important and independent role in promoting and maintaining integrity within the public administration.
The Public Integrity Bureau investigates and seeks to vindicate the public's interest in honest government. When government actors, or private individuals acting in concert with them, engage in corruption, fraud or illegal behavior in the course of their public duties, the Bureau may investigate or take enforcement action to restore the public's interest in honest government and the integrity of government officials.
