Curaçao government introduces risk profile

Lesley-FerWILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has recently developed a risk profile. This is a policy document in which some potential risks have been identified for disasters that Curaçao could be confronted with on the basis of risk analyzes.

The government must develop a policy for this. The calamities can vary from large fires in Punda, a situation in neighboring Venezuela that is completely out of control to shipping disasters, as well as long-lasting major strike actions.

Head risk management and disaster policy Lesly Fer gave a presentation to the press recently and answered the question whether this risk profile is something for the public or for government departments. Mr. Fer indicated that this policy is for the government departments that need to be on alert during a calamity or disaster. It outlines how these departments need to respond to save lives and restore order.
