Curacao government wants more responsibility for public finances

RhuggenaathWILLEMSTAD - The Curacao government wants more responsibility when it comes to public finances, but does not dare to go so far as to say that it wants to get rid of the possibility given in the Kingdom Act to receive a financial instruction by the Kingdom Council of Ministers.

Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath said during a press conference of the Council of Ministers that his government wants to strengthen the government, financial management and institutions. The government, therefore, wants to install a Budget Chamber and a Central Planning Bureau and has approached the Netherlands for technical assistance.

With this, Rhuggenaath wants to achieve that the government’s own responsibility can be supported better and with greater confidence.
