Curacao is admitted as Associate Member of the Caribbean Regional Forum

AsjesWILLEMSTAD - During the 25th meeting of the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee - CDCC on April 25, 2014, Curacao, on the recommendation of Prime Minister, Mr. Ivar Asjes, was admitted as an associate member of the Caribbean regional forum.

With this milestone Curaçao has once again clearly profiled in the region and shown its willingness to further broaden and deepen its relationship with the region.

The CDCC countries give, at this meeting, mandate to the ECLAC - Sub regional Headquarters in Port of Spain - to implement programs for the region. ECLAC is one of five Regional Economic Commissions of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.

This platform is used by the Caribbean countries to give direction to the United Nations in the implementation of policies for the social - economic development of the region.
