Dutch Prime Minister travels to China – Chinese Consulate in Curacao

Mark RutteTHE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte will travel to China at the end of this year for an official visit. This is according to the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frans Timmermans. Timmermans visited Beijing on Tuesday June 11 of this year. There is no exact date for the Prime Minister’s visit.

Timmermans spoke with his counterpart Wang Yu. They agreed to increase contacts at the political, economic and cultural level. Timmermans: “Netherlands would like to contribute in improving the quality of the Chinese growth. For example in the area of sustainability.”

He also spoke with Wang on human rights. He had a meeting with human rights activists at the Dutch embassy in Beijing.

There were talks about the possibilities of the Internet. Through the Internet, according to the activists, more and more citizens are becoming aware of human rights violations.

There will also be a new Consulate General in Chongqin. It will open its doors within a few months. The Consulate General should assist the Dutch companies that want to become active in western China. China will open a Consulate General in Willemstad, Curacao.
