Francisca wants to use surplus SVB to help the less fortunate

Jean Marie FranciscaWILLEMSTAD - Minister of Social Affairs, Jeanne-Marie Francisca wants to use the potential surplus of 40 million guilders of the Social Insurance Bank for the people living below the poverty line. A large part of them must pay 10 percent of health insurance premiums. According to Francisca, the government still does not show its social side.

The reason why the government has not been able to show their social side is because it is still in the grip of the Committee for Financial Supervision to get its household budget in order. According to Francisca, Minister of Finance, Dr. Jose Jardim employs another poverty line compared to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

An attempt was made by Minister Francisca yesterday during the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers in Fort Amsterdam but this was unsuccessful. The meeting did not end well and according to sources in Fort Amsterdam, the parties left the building furious at each other.
