Governor will not be present at opening Parliament year

WILLEMSTAD - Not Governor Frits Goedgedrag but demissionary Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte will deliver a speech at the opening of the new parliamentary year next Tuesday.

In accordance with the Constitution of the country Curaçao is the responsibility of the Governor to open the Parliamentary year, but this year the Government, under proposal of Prime Minister Schotte, has decided to deviate from this. It is generally assumed that the Governor, under the current situation where the President of Parliament Mr. Ivar Asjes has suspended all public meetings until further notice, does not want to act at the opening of the Parliament.
