Illegally received goods from Venezuela will be returned

zijlstraTHE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The countries of the Kingdom are willing to return goods illegally imported from Venezuela to Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire. This is what the Dutch Minister Halbe Zijlstra of Foreign Affairs said in a letter sent to the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament this weekend. There were questions from the Dutch MPs about this issue.

In his letter, the Minister reports on the consultation with a delegation from Caracas about the Venezuelan border blockade that took place in Aruba on January 12. The letter mainly illustrates the powerlessness of the Kingdom in relation to the Venezuelan government.

The return of contraband is part of the agreement that all imports from Venezuela to the ABC Islands must be based on official and coordinated papers. The way in which illegally imported goods are returned will be worked out in more detail, said the Minister.
