Intervention team investigates Ministry SOAW

Jeanne-Marie-FranciscaWILLEMSTAD - An intervention team is, in accordance with Minister Jeanne-Marie Francisca of Social Development, Labor and Welfare, appointed to find out what's wrong in her Ministry. Minister Francisca informed this yesterday during the weekly press conference of the Council of Ministers.

Four to five professional and independent researchers, who are not active in politics, will investigate the way work permits and welfare benefits are granted by the Labor sector. The atmosphere at the Ministry is still grim. Previously, Jeroen Jansen resigned his position as policy director due to lack of confidence in the mutual working relationship. Yesterday, Secretary General Bernice Calmes went home sick. The Minister did not make her plans known to the Secretary General of the Ministry as she announced them yesterday during the press conference.

Earlier, the Secretary-General sent a letter to the Minister in which she talked about a worrying trend and expressed her dissatisfaction about the unprofessional handling of the Minister with her team and the lack of consultation with the management team. Francisca has not responded to the letter, and also a consultation with the faction of her party Pueblo Soberano about conditions within the SOAW has been postponed twice and will take place this afternoon.
