Judge: Jorge Jamaloodin “inadmissible”

george_jamaloodin-caryllisch_carolien_martinaWILLEMSTAD - The Court of First Instance of Curaçao has declared George (Jorge) Jamaloodin inadmissible today in the interlocutory proceedings that he had filed against the government of Curaçao.

Jamaloodin remains in detention in Venezuela awaiting his extradition to Curaçao. In this interlocutory proceeding, he had demanded that the government be ordered to inform the Venezuelan authorities that he is not detained on the orders of a Curaçao judge and that his detention is therefore in conflict with the Constitution.

However, the President of the Court of First Instance held that Jamaloodin was at the wrong address. The requests that Jamaloodin has submitted have to do with the fact that he is suspected of criminal offences. For emergency provisions that are necessary in connection with the "criminal justice", the law has a special procedure with the criminal court. Therefore, Jamaloodin cannot go to the civil court. In the judgment, it is pointed out that Jamaloodin is familiar with this special procedure since he still (in vain) made use of it for a few months.
