Leeflang MP considers filing complaint against Marvelyne Wiels

Omayra LeeflangWILLEMSTAD – Independent Member of Parliament, Omayra Leeflang stated in parliament that if the Ombudsman of Curaçao does continue with her investigation into the actions of the Minister Plenipotentiary, Marvelyne Wiels, she will file a complaint against the minister. During the debate on the budget of the Ministry of General Affairs, there was much attention to the latest developments in Curaçao House.

Ombudsperson Alba Martijn recently announced that on her own initiative she would do an investigation into the actions of the Minister Plenipotentiary. Leeflang fully supports this investigation indicating that the public accountants’ report was very mild. The MP accused Wiels of non-ethical behavior and gave as example, that she was allowed to spend 395,000 guilders in 2014, but had spent 1.7 million guilders. “And now she gets a sum of two million guilders for 2015. This is why I will vote against this budget. It cannot be that we have no money for education and sport, while Wiels gets 2 million in the Netherlands,” Leeflang said.
