Leeflang: “Progress Curaçao only with strong vision”

Omayra LeeflangWILLEMSTAD - “Curaçao needs a strong vision for its future. This is the only way we can make progress.” This is according to the Independent Member of Parliament, Omayra Leeflang on the fourth anniversary of Curaçao as an autonomous country in the Dutch Kingdom.

According to the MP, all the ingredients needed to create a future are available and ready to be used.

“By creating a shared vision, we can give direction to the people and to ensure that all are on the same page. Leeflang is aware that not everyone will be committed to the same vision, but a vision that is supported by the majority, will hold those opposed accountable.

The MP hopes that with a shared vision, the government and the people can work together on reducing violent crimes and murders. “The low point was the murder of politician Helmin Wiels,” she said. Leeflang hopes that this matter can be completed this year, “so we can leave this tumultuous period behind us and to focus on the future vision of Curaçao.”

With the movement 'Un Kòrsou Hustu' Leeflang strives to bring change to the present situation. With a group of 30 people from different walks of life, the group has established a vision for the island.

With the emergence of 'Un Korsou Hustu', the dialogue has started about the future of our island with a fair future where everyone counts,” said the MP.
